A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, CREATING THE DANIA BEACH "CENSUS COMPLETE
COUNT" COMMITTEE, TO SERVE AS AN AD HOC COMMITTEE IN
CONNECTION WITH THE CURRENT UNITED STATES CENSUS;
PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT AND TERMS OF MEMBERS, AS
WELL AS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission has been requested by the United States Census
Bureau to create a City of Dania Beach "Census Complete Count' Committee, to serve as an ad
hoc Committee in connection with the current United States Census, which will assist both the
City and the federal government in counting City residents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach, Florida establishes
and creates the Dania Beach "Census Complete Count' Committee, to serve as an ad hoc
Committee in connection with the current United States Census.
Section 2. That each City Commissioner is entitled to appoint one (1) member to
such Committee from time to time, and each appointee shall serve as an ad hoc member until
there is no further need for the Committee. Each member shall serve without compensation at
the pleasure of the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach.
Section 3. That the members of such Board shall not exceed five (5) in number, each
of whom shall have been a resident of the City of Dania Beach for a minimum of six (6) months
prior to any such appointment.
Section 4. That the members of such Committee shall be as follows: a member of
the Dania Beach Chamber of Commerce; a member of a faith-based organization; a person
associated with the educational field and two residents of two City neighborhoods. Each
member should have the ability to assist in identifying residents who are traditionally
undercounted.
Section 5. That any member missing three (3) consecutive meetings shall
automatically be removed from the Committee and replaced in the same manner in which that
member was originally appointed.
Section 6. That such Committee shall meet from time to time under rules and
regulations which are promulgated by it and by the United States Census Bureau. At the first
meeting of the Board, the members shall elect a chairperson and a vice-chairperson.
Section 7. That within fifteen (15) days of the passage and adoption of this
Resolution, the City Commission, by motion, shall designate and appoint the initial members of
the Committee.
Section 8. That the duties and responsibilities of such Committee shall be those as
established by the United States Census Bureau.
Section 9. That the chairperson of the Committee shall be afforded the opportunity
to request that the City Commission place on its agenda for discussion any recommendations or
suggestions made by the Committee.
Section 10. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 11. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
