DANIA BEACH MARINE ADVISORY BOARD
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2009 — 6:00 P.M.
1. Call to Order
Chairman Clive Taylor called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.

3. Approval of Minutes of September 16, 2009 Minutes
Mike Grady motion to approve the minutes seconded Clive Taylor. The motion passed
unanimously.
4. Reports and Discussion
Mark Felicetty, Parks and Recreations Department, presented the latest flyer for the Turn Your
Boat into A Float Holiday Parade to be held December 6, 2009, with the application entry form.
He noted the entry form is available on the City of Dania Beach Website. He said they finalized
the number of boats to 25 boats along with a $25 entry fee and for commercial vessels a $50
entry fee. He also noted the parade will stage at the Jai Alai and begin at11:00 a.m. and will start
at South Fronton then East on Dania Beach Boulevard, then down towards the beach. Mark
noted there will be a tailgate party at the beach and the Dania Beach Lions Club will provide the
food. Mark also noted there will be a Budweiser"One Ton Tug of War" on the beach.

airman Taylor questioned if Mark Felicett was now the Dockmaster for the marina.

Mark Felicetty advised that as of October 1, 2009,he will be the Dockmaster the marina.
Chairman Taylor and Gary Rowe questioned Mark about the idea of having non-motorized boats
as an idea to bring revenue to the city, and also questioned the boundaries north of the Pier.
4.2 Chairman's Report
No discussion
4.3 Derelict Vessel Report
Deputy Riddle reported the barges at Whiskey Creek and also the barges around 595 near South
Fork New River were all cleared out. He also noted the derelict vessel in the Griffin Marine
Park boat ramp area around 30a' Avenue is being investigated. Deputy Riddle reported a sunken
vessel near Two Bill Seafood in the middle of the canal in the Dania Cut Off near State Road 7.
Deputy Riddle noted they are continuing to work with Code Enforcement looking for
unregistered,unsightly and expired vessels.
Craig Mc Adams commented to Deputy Riddle on the wonderful job they are doing cleaning up
the canals.
Deputy Riddle noted with the help of Broward County and the County Attorney they are pushing
for a clean up of the canals. He also noted that there is a pending lawsuit to vacate the derelicts
vessel in the canal near 595.
Old Business
Craig McAdams commented on the possibility Harbour Towne managing the City of Dania
Marina. He does not want to see a new development, and believes the marina should remain a
natural area or add a few docks and put in a new ramp.
Mike Grady noted he would like to see the City remodel the marina and continue to manage it
and let it be an asset to the City.
Gary Rowe advised he would like to see a commercial marina and a day-use floating dock
without the ramp.
James Reckert noted he agreed the City should manage the marina and thinks that it will be a
great asset.

The board made recommendations to the resent to City Commission: City of Dania Beach will

apply for a grant to fund and remodel the marina, and Harbour Towne will develop and manage
it; leave the manna natural; or add in a few docks at no charge with a new ramp, and signage.
The Board is opposed to Harbour Town managing the Manna and would like for the process to
discontinue until this matter is addressed to the City Commission.
