A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, HONORING AND COMMENDING JOHN T. LOWE FOR
HIS YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE MARINE INDUSTRIES
ASSOCIATION OF FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER,
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Marine Industries Association was created to promote and protect
recreational boating as a traditional family pastime; to protect and enhance the environment and
Florida's waterways; to promote boating safety for all of Florida's recreational boaters; to
preserve every citizen's right to access Florida's waterways; to promote Florida boating and
fishing as a tourism attraction and to represent, educate, and advance Florida's marine industry
businesses and workforce; and
WHEREAS, John T. Lowe joined the Marine Industries Association over 40 years ago;
he provided the Association with a unique perspective on the issues facing industry from his
career in the marine industry, and from his capacity as the representative of the industry
monitoring legislation and regulations in Tallahassee; and
WHEREAS, with his watchful eye and astute understanding of the legislative process in
Tallahassee, John T. Lowe routinely kept the Governmental Affairs Committee of the Marine
Industries Association of Florida abreast of developments that had a direct impact on various
aspects of the marine industry throughout his tenure; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his service as Executive Vice President of the Jacksonville
Marine Association, John T. Lowe served three terms as president of the Marine Industries
Association of Florida, served on the Florida Boating Advisory Council, the U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Manatee Recovery Team, the State of Florida Blue Ribbon Marina Committee, the
Jacksonville Marine Institute and was a founding Board Member of the Greater Jacksonville
Kingfish Tournament; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of his outstanding contributions in making our waterways
accessible and enjoyable, John T. Lowe was the first recipient of The Charles F. Chapman
Award, first established in 1977 and presented annually by NMMA, which recognizes
individuals or groups that have provided consistent promotion and protection of the sport of
boating and its benefits to both the recreational boating industry and the public; John T. Lowe
was also the recipient in 1978 of the Rosenthal Award presented by the Marine Retailers
Association of America for outstanding contributions to the marine retailing industry; and
WHEREAS,for over 40 years, John T. Lowe enriched the Marine Industries Association
of Florida with his genuine commitment, his vast knowledge of the laws and regulations that
greatly affected our waterways, and his noteworthy soliloquies extolling his much appreciated
points of view and the state of Florida and its citizens are indebted to him for his dedicated
service;
BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach, Florida, honors and
commends John T. Lowe for his many years of dedicated service to the Marine Industries
Association of Florida.
Section 2. That a certified copy of this Resolution shall be presented to the Marine
Industries Association of Florida.
Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
