A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, RELATING TO THE AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR
SOLAR STREET LIGHTING; AUTHORIZING THE AWARD OF BID TO
SIGNAL TECHNOLOGY AND INSTALLATION CORPORATION FOR THE
PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF SOLAR LIGHT POLES AND
RELATED EQUIPMENT IN AN AMOUNT OF UP TO $652,384.00 USING
FUNDING PROVIDED BY COUNTY CDBG GRANT AWARDS;
AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE THE
AGREEMENT; DESIGNATING AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVES;
PROVIDE FOR FUNDING; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER,
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on February 9`h the City Commission has approved three (3) CDBG grant
awards with Broward County that provide a combined total of $652,384.00 for purchase and
acquisition of solar light poles and equipment to be installed in qualified CDBG areas within the
City of Dania Beach; and
WHEREAS, On February 12, 2010, the City received bids for the Solar Lighting Project;
and
WHEREAS, the scope of services for this project involves the purchase and installation
of solar lights in the qualified CDBG areas of the City as designated by the City's engineering
consultant, Chen and Associates, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the following bids were submitted:
SIGNAL TECHNOLOGY AND INSTALLATION CORP. $648,975.00
I TRAN PARTNERS, INC. $693,077.00
HORSEPOWER ELECTRIC, INC. $747,747.00
CAPRI INDUSTRIES INC. $896,725.00
FLORIDA ELECTRIC CONTRACT SERVICE INC. $984,175.00
WHEREAS, the City bid selection team, including the consulting engineer, recommend
that the low responsive and responsible bidder, Signal Technology And Installation Corp., be
selected to perform the work and the bid be awarded to that company in the amount of up to
$652,384.00; and
WHEREAS, funding from the 34`h Year, 35`h Year and CDBG-R Community
Development Block Grants will fund $652,384.00 of the cost of this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the foregoing findings are incorporated by this reference.
Section 2. That the bid shall be awarded to the low bidder, Signal Technology and
Installation Corp. in the amount of up to $652,384.00 and the proper City officials are authorized
to execute the contract for the work; provided, however that no contract will become effective
unless and until City officials complete their execution of it.
Section 3. That the funding identified above is authorized for use in this
procurement.
Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with any of the
provisions of this Resolution are repealed.
Section 5. That if any Section or portion of a Section of this Resolution proves to be
invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity,
force or effect of any other Section or part of this Resolution.
Section 6. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
