DANIA BEACH MARINE ADVISORY BOARD
SPECIAL MEETING
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2010 - IO:00A.M.-11:00 A.M.

The Marine Advisory Board toured the Marina from the north end to the south end. They
observed the following; the connecting ramp at the north end is hanging off the dock and is in
need of repair. The board believes this to be a safety hazard that needs immediate attention.
There is also a need for a new walk way connecting the shoreline to the dock. The board believes
the walk way is needed for transients to disembark and to have access to the south end of the
beach. They noted the Marina office and scattered handcarts around the Marina is an eyesore.
Recommendations were noted as follows; they would like to see the guard house removed, and
pot holes repaved. The board also noted recommendation for Marina usage, until the new Marina
is constructed the board would like the proper places do the advertising to allow the majority of
South Florida boaters to have full knowledge of The City of Dania Beach Marina and how to get
to it. They also suggested having day time visitors dock their boats to have access to the beach
and the restaurants with no charge at the present. Further recommendations were: having
transient dock at the north end of the Marina with the recommended occupancy of 60 percent
being monthly renters and 40 percent transients and having day visitors leave the Marina when
the park closes. The board recommended the new Marina should have the main dock installed
next to the bulkhead with floating finger docks extending westward and noted the area should be
maximized for the number of dock rentals.
The board noted they should be involved in the design of the Marina and will be available for
input or recommendations as needed. They believe this project can be profitable to the City of
Dania Beach if properly planned.
