Discussion and possible action regarding proposed Bass Pro Shop and IGFA (International Game& Fish Association) Museum at 1-95 and Griffin Road. -i: City Manager Flatley was pleased to report that Bass Pro Shops is interested in F' locating their project in Dania at I-95 and Griffin Rd and that they will be in town on Monday, Memorial Day, to work out some final plans. He advised that they need something in writing from the City before they proceed and that Attorney Mastriana is present to provide additional information regarding this venture. Attorney Ron Mastriana, Bass Pro Shops, commended city staff for their efforts in working with them and bringing them together with Tri-Rail,the Department of Transportation and Broward County officials. The Commission discussed the cost of dredging the lake, the use of the fill and their individual comments relating to the positive benefits that this project will bring to the City of Dania and Broward County. SPECIAL MEETING I MAY 26, 1995 }j k l -- ee: icy � i F o Will Allen, Growth Management Director, explained that the M-4 zoning is very flexible in this area but that the commercial retail use will require an allocation of acreage for flex units that may need to be added to the Resolution. The Commission agreed that the zoning change would require a public hearing in the future. City Attorney Adler stated that the Commission can agree to not grant any flex use in the area until the project is approved. Mayor Hyde read the following "Items For Consideration"into the record: 1) Use of Tigertail park facilities • Use of Tigertail park for access to the east across CSX tracks for -e ft _ Tri-Rail and gr,,� ,. • IGFA Museum and enhancement of Tigertail Park; lit '' • Possible use of lake for fishing demonstrations; fi • Permission to utilize fill from dredging of lake to provide road p,. bed for access road across CSX tracks for Tri-Rail and IGFA Museum; 2) Identification • Permission to allow Bass Pro Shops to rename the entire entity as a destination point, which would include the new access road and Tigertail Park and to consider renaming Ravenswood Road. 3) Waiver of fees • Waiver of building permit fees for both the Bass Pro Shop and IGFA Museum;estimated to be $207,000 for Bass Pro Shops and $45,000 i t for the IGFA Museum; "` • Waiver of Police and Fire Safety fees and Interim General Service f Fees approximately $35,000; 4. Support of a kiosk for identification at the Dania-Ft. Lauderdale, Hollywood International Airport; 5. Acquisition of the 2 acres to the North bordering Griffin Road and possible exchange with Broward County for the existing property owned by the City of Dania in Westlake, by trade or otherwise; 6. Use of necessary flex units to build the necessary facility, subject to the Public Hearing procedure. SPECIAL MEETING 2 MAY 26, 1998 sw;. 'F 7 c M Vice Mayor Bertino clarified that the City will be required to provide around M 10% of the fill as mentioned in item 1 and that the excess fill can be sold to cover cost of the dredging. City Attorney Adler stated that he would make the necessary changes to the Resolution as directed by the Commission and directed Mayor Hyde to sign and date the paper outlining the "Items for Consideration"that will be made a part of the Resolution. {t . Vice Mayor Bertino clarified with staff that the City does not have any attachment on the Fire Safety Fees that are being waived. A motion made by Commissioner Mikes, seconded by Commissioner Grace to adopt the resolution urging the Bass Pro Shops and International Game &Fish Association UGFA) Museum to locate in Broward County;supporting and } approving certain "I for Consideration" forth in this Resolution; and �4�z1 "Items onserat as set 1 I encouraging Bass Pro and IGFA to work closely with the City who, in turn, will facilitate their development in Broward County.
