DANIA BEACH CITY COMMISSION
MONDAY, APRIL 19, 2010— 7:00 P.M.
1. Call to Order/Call to Order
Mayor McElyea called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Present:
Mayor: C. K. "Mad' McElyea
Vice-Mayor: Anne Castro
Commissioners: Bob Anton
Walter Duke
City Manager: Robert Baldwin
City Attorney: Thomas Ansbro
City Clerk: Louise Stilson
Reverend Gregory Pope, Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, gave the invocation followed by the
ROTC Color Guard. Brandon Grace, grandson of Bobbie Grace, led the Pledge of Allegiance to
the American Flag.
2. Acceptance of Certification of General Election
2.1 Motion to accept certification of Special Election results from the Broward County
Canvassing Board
City Clerk Stilson announced the results of the April 13, 2010 Special Election. The results are:
Bobbie H. Grace 1,180 votes
Carolyn Jones 753 votes
Commissioner Duke motioned to accept the Certification of the Special Election results
from the Broward County Canvassing Board for the April 13, 2010 Special Election;
seconded by Vice-Mayor Castro. The motion carried on the following 4-0 Roll Call vote:
Commissioner Anton Yes Vice-Mayor Castro Yes
Commissioner Duke Yes Mayor McElyea Yes
3. Administration of Oath of Office for Newly Elected Official
City Clerk Stilson administered the Oath of Office to Commissioner Bobbie H. Grace.
4. Seating of Elected Official
Commissioner Duke said he is proud of Bobbie Grace and her family; he said she ran an ethical
and fair campaign.
Mayor McElyea noted Bobbie Grace was his first choice from the time that Albert Jones
resigned his position.
Vice-Mayor Castro acknowledged that Commissioner Grace can be counted on to do what is best
for the City.
Commissioner Anton congratulated Commissioner Grace on her election. He said he looks
forward to working with her on the Commission and doing what is best for the City.
Commissioner Grace said it was her pleasure to serve the City, and thanked her Christ and her
husband. Commissioner Grace remarked we are all Danians, so we should not have received the
type of publicity that arose from this campaign. She is proud of Carolyn Jones and herself.
Commissioner Grace acknowledged the Fire Department has taken a lot of heat for her
campaign; she said she never heard them say anything negative. The only negative thing she
heard was regarding their equipment. Commissioner Grace noted she had 174 supporters in her
campaign. She thanked Lisa Young Duke for running her campaign; she also thanked Mayor
McElyea and Commissioner Duke for their support. Commissioner Grace thanked the ROTC for
their service to the community. She said she is excited to serve the citizens of Dania Beach.
Commissioner Grace urged the community to move forward. She thanked all the members of
Team Grace for their support. Commissioner Grace asked the residents to pull the City together
in unity and love. She thanked her family for their support, and Jean Cook for encouraging her
to enter into politics.

6. Adjournment
Vice-Mayor Castro adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
