Call to Order Chairman Clive Taylor called the meeting to order at 6:07 p.m. 2. Approval of Minutes of Minutes for March 17, 2010 Peggy McKenna motioned to approve the minutes, seconded by Mike Grady. The motion passed unanimously. 4.1 Dania Beach Marine Management Contract Update- Assistant City Manager Colin Donnell Assistant City Manager, Colin Donnelly updated the Marine Advisory Board on the status of the Dania Beach Marina Management Contract. He advised the Bid Review Committee used a formula for the revenue and reviewing of the candidates based on various criteria and a 1, 2, 3 System and unanimously and uniformly made a recommendation for Westrec to the City Commission. Assistant City Manager Donnelly noted the City Commission reviewed all three candidates' presentations and decided to appoint Westrec as well. He said the Subcommittee is now in negotiations with Westrec and the bid has not yet been officially awarded. He advised the board that the Marina is being managed by Kristen Jones Parks and Recreation Department Manager and Hakeem Ismail, Parking Enforcement Officer/Marina Assistant. Assistant City Manager Donnelly noted that they will possibly make a decision by May, 2010. Chairman Taylor stated the board took a trip to the marina and advised that the ramps need to be replaced with three new ones to make a huge improvement for the marina before advertising. Assistant City Manager Donnelly stated the City of Dania Beach can advertise with the Broward County Marine Committee Boater's Guide Magazine and possibly share the underwriting cost of advertising as a way to get the word out about Dania Beach Marina. Gary Rowe questioned the RFP day use of the marina for the Management Contract for the Marina. Assistant City Manager Donnelly advised the Marina Management Contract is only for managing what is presently there, and added that the contract is for 2 years of management with a possible 2 year renewal. He said it was structured that way because it may take up to four years to complete the marina. 4.2 Solar Lightine Assistant City Manager Donnelly noted the Solar Lighting Project Bid and the City Wide Solar Lighting Project were both funded; therefore 10 solar lights were purchased. The solar lights will be placed at the Griffin Marine Park. He said the City is engaging Chen and Associates Engineering to design a lighting plan for Griffin Marine Park which will be presented to the Broward County Marine Committee for approval. He advised the City will hold a public meeting for residents of the surrounding community to hear their input concerning the Solar Lighting Project. 4.3 Law Enforcement Marine Report Deputy Jason Riddle advised he recovered a stolen Fiat Boat across the canal from Griffin Marine Park. He noted the boat was stolen from the Sunrise area. He also reported on a derelict 30 ft. Sea Ray. Its owner's home went into foreclosure and the bank hired an Asset Removal Company to dispose of it, but there was a dispute over the removal and storage fee. The boat has since been removed. Deputy Riddle also reported that on the yellow tug boat that has been floating along the canal out west has now been tied to the wheelabrator and he believes either the new owners or someone else has moved it. Lastly, he stated with the increase of rain many boats around the canals have begun to sink. 5. New Business No new business. 6. Old Business No old business. 7. Board Member Comments No Comments.
