HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2010-175 Recovery Zone Application Green Hill Properties LLC RESOLUTION NO. 2010-175 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA EXPRESSING THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY COMMISSION IN CONNECTION WITH THE SUBMISSION OF A RECOVERY ZONE APPLICATION TO BROWARD COUNTY AND THE STATE OF FLORIDA BY GREEN HILL PROPERTIES LLC RELATED TO FUNDING OF THE PROPOSED REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT ASSOCIATED WITH THE LOCATION FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE PIRATES INN; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach entered into a Development Agreement with Downtown Dania Beach Development, LLC, an affiliate of Green Hill Properties LLC the redeveloper of the location formerly known as the Pirates Inn, for a redevelopment project to be located in the new City Center Project area; and WHEREAS, a portion of the City Center Project area consists of a redevelopment project associated with the location formerly known as the Pirates Inn; and WHEREAS, the economic impacts from the City Center Project and redevelopment of the location formerly known as the Pirates Inn will include the creation of hundreds of new jobs and an increase in the tax base for the City of Dania Beach; and WHEREAS, the City Center project and redevelopment of the location formerly known as the Pirates Inn will boost tourism within the City of Dania Beach with additional economic impacts to area businesses; and WHEREAS, the developer is seeking financing to construct the project and intends to apply for the new federal stimulus funding available through the Recovery Zone Application process. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Commission expressly supports the submission of the Recovery Zone Application to Broward County and The State of Florida by Green Hill Properties LLC, which seeks assistance in funding of the proposed redevelopment of the location formerly known as the Pirates Inn. Section 2. That a certified copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded by the City Clerk to the Broward County Commission. Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED on October 12, 2010. �z o,s FIRST K.
