HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2010-194 Fire Department Purchase of 2 Ford Expeditions RESOLUTION NO 2010-194 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE TWO (2) 2011 FORD 4X4 EXTENDED LENGTH EXPEDITIONS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF $86,126.00 FROM ALAN JAY FORD LINCOLN MERCURY, INC., AN APPROVED VENDOR UNDER FLORIDA SHERIFFS' ASSOCIATION BID NO. 10-18-0907, WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHE REAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach Part III Article 3 Section 4 Subsection 0), authorizes the City Manager to purchase supplies, services, equipment and materials for the City government in amounts in excess of $25,000.00 without competitive bidding and without advertisement for bids if he is authorized to do so in advance by a resolution adopted by the City Commission and if such purchases are made pursuant to a competitive bid obtained within the last eighteen (18) months by other governmental agencies such as the federal government, State of Florida or a Florida county or municipality; and WHEREAS, the City Fire Chief and City Manager have determined that it is necessary and prudent to purchase two (2) 2011 Ford 4x4 Extended Length Expeditions as emergency response vehicles for use by the Fire-Rescue Department and to declare two of the City's existing staff vehicles as surplus and available for sale upon receipt and activation of the new vehicles; and WHEREAS, Alan Jay Ford Lincoln Mercury, Inc. has submitted an offer and the City Manager has determined that such purchase can be made using the Florida Sheriffs' Association Bid #10-18-0907 from Alan Jay Ford Lincoln Mercury, Inc. in an amount not to exceed the sum of$86,126.00, which includes a contractual warranty for each vehicle; and WHEREAS, the City of Dania Beach Fire Department has funding under a specific Fire Reserve account for such purchases; and WHEREAS,the current staff vehicles are beyond their useful service life; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized to pay an amount not to exceed the sum of $86,126.00 to Alan Jay Ford Lincoln Mercury, Inc., 3201 U.S. Highway 27 South, Sebring, Florida 33870 for the purchase of the above described vehicles. Section 2. That this purchase was planned and authorized in the approved General Fund budget—Fire Department Capital Equipment Account#00 1-2201-522-6420. Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 5.
