HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2011-021 - Change Order #2 -Straightline Engineering Group (Oasis Project) RESOLUTION NO. 2011-021 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED NINETEEN THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED THIRTY THREE DOLLARS ($19,633.00) IN CONNECTION WITH THE DESIGN/BUILD AGREEMENT FOR THE DANIA BEACH OASIS PROJECT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on December 14, 2010, the City Commission approved a Neighborhood Improvement Project known as the Oasis Project with Straightline Engineering Group, LLC, for neighborhood improvements on SW 3`d Avenue in the amount of One Hundred Six Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars ($106,750.00); and WHEREAS, during construction the work resulted in Change Order No. 1, in the amount of$21,810.00, which reflects meeting ADA requirements and the modifications made to include storm water drainage storage/retention under pavers (Change Order No. 1 was approved and signed by the City Manager on February 14, 2011); and WHEREAS, residents requested additional modifications resulting in Change Order No. 2, in the amount of$19,633.00, which reflects installation of street name signs and modifications proposed at the three (3) locations noted in attached Change Order No. 2; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That Change Order No. 2, dated February 3, 2011 by Straightline Engineering Group, LLC, related to the Design/Build Agreement for the Oasis Project on SW 3rd Avenue in an amount not to exceed Nineteen Thousand Six Hundred Thirty Three Dollars ($19,633.00) is approved for proposed additional work. A copy of Change Order No. 2 is attached as Exhibit "A", which is made a part of and is incorporated into this Resolution by this reference. Section 2. Funds for this project will be provided by use or transfer of available project balances ($440,469.40 on 2/14/11) in the City's Capital Fund-CPTEIM Improvements Project Account#301-4101-541-6310—project code: CPTEIM. Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with any portion of this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4. Director of Public Services RE: Oasis Project—SW 3 d Avenue Neighbor Improvements and Solar Street Lighting On November 9, 2010, The City Commission approved the following budget for the Oasis Project: Neighborhood Improvements $179,600.00 Solar Street Lighting (22) $110,000.00 Total $289,600.00 On December 14, 2010, The City Commission approved award of Neighborhood Improvements (Solar Street Lighting will be a separate contract)to Straightline Engineering Group in the amount of $106,750.00. During Construction the work was modified to address existing conditions including ADA requirements that were omitted in the initial scope of work. Also, a major design modification was made to include stormwater drainage storage/retention under the pavers. The modifications resulted in a net additional cost of$21,810.00 (Change Order 1), see attachment for details. Note, since the Contractor was not able to find decorative street name signs and poles with-in the budget dollar amount noted in the quote, this work was deleted from this Phase. To expedite the work and to meet the January 31, 2011 completion date, the Public Services Director asked the Contractor to proceed with the modifications and additional work, and would obtain required approval from the City Manager. Change Order 1 in the amount of$21,810.00 for the modifications and additional work was sent to the City Manager for approval and signature. Prior to completion, residents had made additional requests. It was determined that the additional requests would need to go before the City Commission for approval before we should proceed. The locations and amounts, quotes obtained from the Contractor for the additional work requested by residents are as follows (See Attachment for details): 1. 1403 SW 3rd Avenue $4,664.00 2. 1502 SW 3`d Avenue $7,164.00 3. 273 SW 15'h Street $4,110.00 Additional Requests Total $15,938.00 4.
