A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING ADVANCE APPROVAL FROM THE
CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH FOR
ADVERTISEMENT OF THE CAPITAL PROJECT KNOWN AS THE US-1
LANDSCAPING IMPROVEMENT PHASE II; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 2-16 of the City Code of Ordinances provides that the CRA and all
City Departments, Divisions and City Staff, prior to placing an item on a City Commission
agenda for formal City Commission approval for competitive bidding or for waiver of bidding,
shall obtain advance City Commission conceptual approval by Resolution of any proposed
capital project or capital purchase appropriated in the City Budget approved by the City
Commission when bidding would otherwise be required, and the Resolution shall also identify
all sources of planned funding, including appropriations of available cash balances, loans and
grants; and
WHEREAS, the City has not approved plans or budget appropriations for the anticipated
US-1 Landscaping Phase II $1,300,000.00 Project in the 2011/12 budget appropriation and
therefore, the Administration has worked to identify funding that may be withdrawn from
previously approved City Capital Improvement Fund projects in a total amount of$850,000.00
and re-appropriated to the Project; and
WHEREAS, funding for this project has also been recently approved from Broward
County CDBG funds in an amount of$199,792.00; and
WHEREAS, there will be an additional need to appropriate additional funds in the
amount of $250,208.00 from a transfer from the CRA Unassigned Fund Balance to complete
funding for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the City is ready for the advertisement of the capital project known
formally as the US-1/SR-5 Right-of-Way Improvements-Phase II Project;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That City officials are authorized to proceed with bidding of the capital
project known as the US-1 Landscaping Improvement Project-Phase II Project.
Section 2. That funding for this Project in a total amount of $1,300,000.00 is
appropriated and re-appropriated as follows:
Appropriation/Re-appropriation From:
• Capital Project Fund —SE Traffic Calming $ 450,000.00
• 66 64 - US-1 Landscaping Phase I 100,000.00
• 44 - Canal Dredging—City Match Funds 300,000.00
• Grant Fund - CDBG Grant from County 199,792.00
• Transfer from CRA Fund 250,208.00
Total Appropriations from 1,300,000.00
Appropriation To:
• US-1 Landscape Improvement—Phase II Project 1,300,000.00
Section 3. That the Administration recognizes that there will be a significant and
continuing cost for maintenance of the US-1 Landscaping improvements and that these added
costs will be reflected in future City budget expenditures.
Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 5. That this Resolution shall be in full force and take upon its passage and
adoption.
