A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR FUNDING APPROPRIATIONS AND
REQUESTING ADVANCE APPROVAL FROM THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH FOR ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS ON C.W.
THOMAS PARK FOOTBALL FIELD IMPROVEMENTS; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 2-16 of the City Code of Ordinances provides that the CRA and all
City Departments, Divisions and City Staff, prior to placing an item on a City Commission
agenda for formal City Commission approval for competitive bidding or for waiver of bidding,
shall obtain advance City Commission conceptual approval by resolution of any proposed capital
project or capital purchase appropriated in the City Budget approved by the City Commission
when bidding would otherwise be required, and the resolution shall also identify all sources of
planned funding, including appropriations of available cash balances, loans and grants; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission originally approved funding appropriations for C.W.
Thomas football field improvements in an amount totaling $65,000.00 on October 1, 2010,
which remained unspent and unencumbered in the General Fund - Recreation Department at the
end of the last fiscal year; and
WHEREAS these unspent and unencumbered balances were properly returned to the
General Fund - fund balance as a normal function of closing the City's year-end financial
records; and
WHEREAS the Parks and Recreation Department intends to use these funds in the
current year and, therefore, needs these prior year's unspent allocations for improvements to the
C.W. Thomas football field; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department is ready for the advertisement to
solicit bids for C.W. Thomas football field improvements;
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the Commission approves the budget transfer and appropriation of
$65,000.00 from the General Fund Contingency Account to the General Fund - Recreation
Department Account to provide funds for football field improvements at C.W. Thomas Park as
follows:
Transfer from:
General Fund—Contingency Account $65,000.00
Transfer to:
General Fund—Parks and Recreation Department Account
for C. W. Thomas Park football field Improvements
Other-Than Buildings $65,000.00
Section 2. That the Parks and Recreation Department is authorized to proceed with
bidding for football field improvements at C.W. Thomas Park.
Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and take effect immediately
upon its passage and adoption.
