A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO
TRANSFER REMAINING FUNDS FROM THE CAPITAL PROJECT FUND -
P.J. MELI FENCE PROJECT TO THE DOG PARK CAPITAL PROJECT TO
PROVIDE FUNDING AND AUTHORITY TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT
WITH COASTAL CONTRACTING AND DEVELOPMENT, INC. FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF THE "PRECIOUS PAWS" DOG PARK LOCATED AT
P.J.MELI PARK IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $102,148.90;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR FUNDING, FURTHER,
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City provided a capital funding appropriation for creation of a dog park
in an amount of$53,000.00 in the 2009 fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, the City has expended approximately $15,540.00 during the past year for
design and development of the dog park project, leaving an available balance of$37,460.00; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation Department prepared and advertised bids for construction of
the Precious Paws Dog Park and two proposals were received by the City on June 17, 2011; and
WHEREAS, the committee representing the City for the project has determined and is
recommending that Coastal Contracting and Development, Inc. be selected, since it can best
provide the project services in an amount not to exceed$102,148.90; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation Department has completed all fencing planned and required
for the $108,000.00 P.J. Meli Fencing Project approved in the 2008 fiscal year, leaving an
available, unspent balance of$92,924.00 that may be transferred to fund costs of the dog park
proj ect;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the proper City officials are authorized to transfer all remaining
available Capital Project Fund balances from the P.J. Meli Capital Fencing Project to the
Precious Paws Dog Park capital project adding approximately$92,924.00 in additional funds and
bringing the total funding for the dog park project to $130,384.00.
Section 2. That the Commission ranks Coastal Contracting and Development, Inc. as
the most responsive and responsible bidder and directs that proper City officials execute an
Agreement for construction of the Precious Paws Dog Park Project with Coastal Contracting and
Development, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $102,148.90 which shall be charged to available
funding appropriations in the Capital Project Fund—P.J. Meli Dog Park.
Section 3. That the City Manager and City Attorney are authorized to make minor
revisions to the terms of such documents as are deemed necessary and proper for the best
interests of the City.
Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 5. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
