A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF NOT MORE
THAN $76,000.00 FOR BEACH LANDSCAPING IMPROVEMENTS
INCLUDING A TRANSFER AND APPROPRIATION OF NEEDED FUNDING
FOR BEACH LANDSCAPING IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$50,000.00; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Manager has determined that it is necessary to provide for services
for landscaping and irrigation all along the City beach; and
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Part III, Article 3, Section 4,
Subsection 0), authorizes the City Manager to purchase supplies, services, equipment and
materials for the city government in amounts in excess of the established monetary threshold
without competitive bidding and without advertisement for bids if he is authorized to do so in
advance by a resolution adopted by the city commission; and
WHEREAS, the Dania Beach Code of Ordinances, Chapter 2, Article 1, Section 2-10,
"Monetary thresholds for certain purchases and payment disbursement authorizations",
Subsection(a), sets the monetary threshold or limitation at $25,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Services has determined that the work for this part
of the project can best be done using in-house City staff, and
WHEREAS, Public Services has determined that the purchase of needed plantings will
require the use of multiple vendors and therefore staff has obtained the required three cost quotes
for plant materials; resulting in total landscaping material purchase and installation cost that will
not exceed$76,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the City has an available balance of$27,966.00 in the Capital Project Fund—
Ocean Park Improvement project that may be used to fund the beach landscaping improvements;
and
WHEREAS, other costs associated with the associated landscape engineering,
permitting, plant material purchases, installation, fence repairs, irrigation and necessary signage
will not exceed $48,034.00;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH,FLORIDA:
Section 1. That an added funding appropriation for beach landscaping shall be
provided by a transfer from remaining available Capital Project Fund SE Traffic Calming Project
balances in the amount of$48,034.00 to the Capital Projects Fund — Ocean Park Improvement
Project Account No. 301-7250-572-63-10 for City beach landscaping improvements.
Section 2. That costs of the beach landscaping improvements will be charged to and
paid from the Capital Project Fund — Ocean Park Improvement Project Account No. 301-7250-
572-63-10 in a total amount not to exceed $76,000.00.
Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and take effect immediately upon
its passage and adoption.
