The Community Development Director of Community Development, Robert Daniels
presented the board plans for the Waterfront Revitalization Plans and invited the Marine
Advisory Board to attend the Stakeholders Meeting that will be held on April 12, 2012 at the
I.T. Parker Community Center. Mr. Daniels anticipated that this project will be a year long
process necessary to upgrade the Dania Beach, Tootie Adler Park (Park on the beach),
Marina, Pier, and the Cove, and advised that I.T. Parker Community Center is part of this
plan. He said they want to plan for this project with ideas from Marina Board and other
stakeholders as well as Dania Citizens. Mr. Daniels also noted that the City has hired a
facilitator and has put out Request for Proposals, once received they have a board to make a
1
selection of the best qualified to recommend and present to the City Commission for the final
the decision.
Mr. Daniels advised that the City is in negotiations for the Pier Restaurant with owners of the
Flannigan's Restaurant.
Craig McAdams questioned if the CRA is included in on the planning of the Waterfront
Revitalization Project and if The City is aware of the private property on the Northern end of
Marina.
Mr. Daniels advised that the CRA is not included and added that Broward County will not
fund this project if it included CRA. He also stated The City is aware of the private property
on the Northern end and has no plans or are not interested in the private property. Mr.
Daniels also said The City will like to have the sea grape trees remove and replaced at the
beach. He also advised that The City is aware of the effect of turtle nesting and permitting
from the Department of National Fish and Wildlife is almost ready.
Clive advised that Flannigan's/Quarterdeck are under legal review.
Clive noted that the 30th Avenue ramp are still awaiting solar lights panels and will like to
have answers from the Assistant City Manager Office.
Clive stated that he received an email from Commissioner Duke regarding deep canal
dredging. Clive advised that the Marine Board had been trying for years to get the problem
fixed under the U.S. 1 Bridge. Clive said believe the bridge can be fixed short term and
questioned why not have dredging included on the contract that is place already that will be
going up to the bridge with the supplemental agreement or a amendment to the contract.
Clive said that Commissioner Duke responded that Clive idea seemed to be a short term,
however the dredging is a long term issue, he noted that Commissioner Duke said that they
will also have to take out the finders, which the board recommended and that F.D.O.T will
have to give permission to dredge under the U.S. 1 Bridge. Clive advised that a newer and
higher bridge is needed. He also said that someone should have asked the contractors to look
at all issues in the beginning stages.
5.B.S.O. Marine Report
Deputy Alex Jacobi of the B.S.O. Marine Unit reported Broward County wills are stopping
funds for removing vessels that are attached to The City property or private property and
noted that they will only be responsible for Broward County Property.
Deputy Giacobbe also advised that they conducted an undercover operation and issued 6
tickets. He also advised that B.S.O. and Fire Rescue will monitor barges and traffic control
once dredging project begins around the Dania Cut Canal.

Beach Canal and the regular plan is to dredge port Everglades to Las Olas, and the area under
the railroad bridge as well. He also stated Federal Highway will be moved over one block
