Home My WebLink AboutR-2012-103 - Executed an Agreement for Additional Engineering Services with Calvin, Giordani & Associates, Inc. pertaining to Lift Stations Numbered 1, 2, 3, 6, 7 not to exceed $34.720.95 RESOLUTION NO. 2012-103 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT FOR ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES WITH CALVIN, GIORDANO & ASSOCIATES, INC., PERTAINING TO LIFT STATIONS NUMBERED 1, 2, 3, 6, 7 IN CONNECTION WITH DANIA SEWAGE PUMP STATIONS UNDER PROPOSAL NUMBER 05-5512.3 FOR PHASE I WORK, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $34,720.95; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Public Services Department is requesting to engage Calvin Giordano & Associates, Inc. for additional engineering services due to lift station pump failures, when the run times became excessive; and WHEREAS, when the run times continued to increase, one of the pumps was lifted out of its wetwell, and it was noticed that the impeller showed excessive wear on it; the Director of Public Services, upon further inspection of the remainder of the pumps, noticed that all of the lift stations needed attention; and WHEREAS,the Public Services Director is requesting consulting engineering assistance to determine the cause and options for correction of lift station pumps' issues, for pumps that were replaced under the City's Phase I work of the Lift Station Replacement capital project contract award to Intercounty Engineering, Inc.; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the proper City officials are authorized to execute an Agreement with Calvin Giordano & Associates, Inc. for additional engineering services under Proposal Number 05-5512-3 for Phase I work as referenced above in an amount not to exceed $34,720.95; a copy of the Proposal is attached as Exhibit "A", and it is made a part of and is incorporated into this Resolution by this reference. Section 2. That the City Manager and City Attorney are authorized to make minor revisions to the Agreement as are deemed necessary and proper for the best interests of the City. Section 3. That funding for this consulting engineering work is available in the Sewer Fund - Engineering Services Account, Account number 402-3502-535-31-30; the Administration is directed to consider and pursue claims to seek reimbursement of costs of both the consulting work and the City's costs of pump repairs and replacements through contractual, warranty and insurance means related to the original Lift Station Phase I contract. Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 5. Engineering services related to failure of PX pumps installed in pump station #1 in the City of Dania Beach including the following (services not yet performed, beginning 2/20/12, on an hourly-not-to-exceed basis): • Review new pump manufacturer as selected by the City and recommend new pumps based on pump station performance requirements. • Coordinate with an independent pump station maintenance company to perform a failure autopsy for one of the pumps in pump station#6. Pump station#6 pumps have failed since pump station#1 from sunilar issues. Retain lift station maintenance company as a reimbursable expense. • Provide engineering services to the City in resolution of the PX pump failure as needed. • Provide engineering services to the City during the installation of the replacement pump manufacturers pumps. - Provide construction observation services during re-start of PS #1. • Services are hourly not-to-exceed up to the amount specified herein. Once this amount is exceeded, another Additional Services Agreement will be issued to continue services. II. Professional Construction Services A.
