HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2009-110 Horton Emergency Vehicles 2009 Freightliner M2 Crew Cab RESOLUTION NO. 2009-110—WITHDRAWN 6/9/2009 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE ONE 2009 FREIGHTLINER M2 CREW CAB RESCUE VEHICLE IN THE AMOUNT OF $230,758.73 FROM HORTON EMERGENCY VEHICLES COMPANY UNDER FLORIDA FIRE CHIEFS' ASSOCIATION, FLORIDA SHERIFFS' ASSOCIATION & FLORIDA ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES BID NO. 08-08- 0909, WHICH PRICE INCLUDES A TRADE-IN ALLOWANCE FOR 1995 AND 1996 FREIGHTLINER RESCUE VEHICLES, WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS; PROVIDING FOR FUNDING; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Part III, Article 3, Section 4, Subsection (J), authorizes the City Manager to purchase supplies, services, equipment and materials for the City government in amounts in excess of $25,000.00 without competitive bidding and without advertisement for bids if he is authorized to do so in advance by a resolution adopted by the City Commission and if such purchases are made pursuant to a competitive bid obtained within the last twelve (12) months by other governmental agencies such as the federal government, State of Florida or a Florida county or municipality; and WHEREAS, the vendor is offering the option to purchase a second rescue vehicle for the 2010 vehicle year with multiple discounts including a prepayment discount; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has determined that it is necessary to purchase one rescue vehicle for use by the Fire Rescue Department under the FY2009 approved budget; and WHEREAS,there are significant discounts associated with the purchase of a 2009 capital improvement rescue vehicle due to new federal emissions standards for diesel engines that will go into effect January 1, 2010 that will increase the cost of a rescue vehicle chassis by$7,000.00- $9,000.00; and WHEREAS,the City Manager has determined that such purchase can be made at the least cost to the City from Horton Emergency Vehicles Company in the amount of$230,758.73, which price includes a trade-in allowance for a 1995 and a 1996 Freightliner rescue vehicles, under Florida Fire Chiefs' Association,Florida Sheriffs' Association&Florida Association of Counties Bid No. 08-08-0909, a copy of which is attached as Exhibit"A"; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized to pay an amount not to exceed the sum of $230,758.73 to Horton Emergency Vehicles Company, 3800 McDowell Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123, for the purchase of a 2009 Freightliner M2 Crew Cab Rescue Vehicle through financing, subject to the conditions described above. Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. WITHDRAWN on June 9, 2009.
