MINUTES OF MEETING
TUESDAY, JANUARY 21, 2014 @6P1N4
1. Call to Order
Debra McElyea called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m.
2. Roll Call
Members Present:

Members Absent:
Jimmie Peterman(excused)
Clare Frost made a motion to excuse Judy Jensen from the December 17,2013 meeting,
seconded by Tim Pelott. All favored. Motion passed unanimously.
The board made motion to approve the excused absence for Jimmy Peterman. All
favored. Motion passed unanimously.

3. Citizen Comments
No comments.
4. Approval of Minutes for December 17,2013 Meeting
Ivie Cure made a motion to approve the December 17, 2013 minutes. Veronica Larkin
seconded. All favored. Motion passed unanimously.
5. Department Update and Discussion
Mark reported that the basketball courts and the resurfacing at C.W. Thomas were
completed. He also reported that the P.J. Meli Baseball Dugout Project was completed as
well as the South West Community Center was repainted and the two sided sign was
installed. Mark also reported that the Motorcycle Vintage Show will be Saturday at
Frost Park.

Clare reiterated on the Motorcycle Vintage Show in details for the upcoming show and
reported that everything is running smoothly.
6. New Business
Royalty Inc, made a fee waiver request to utilize the I. T. Parker Community Center on
May 3, 2014.
Jabrina Thompson stated the she along with her board decided to do a "Rocking with
Girls to Women Retreat" in May. This will be a retreat to empowering females for a
better future. They plan to visit local schools and other organizations within the
community.
Tim Pelott made a motion to waive the $200 fee waiver. All favored. Motion passed
unanimously.
Clare advised that The City of Tamarac will be reopening their parks on Mondays and
asked if The City of Dania Beach will ever go back to opening the parks on Mondays.
Mark responded that maybe in the next budget year.
Veronica questioned the active interaction activities in parks.
Mark responded by explaining that the recreation assistants are facilitators, they assist
with setting up or breaking down for meetings, assist with taking attendance, fees,
membership and answering phones.
Veronica asked if anyone submitted paperwork from the Dania Bears to do a proposal
for the budget.
Mark responded no. He asked if he could have the Dania Bears Board submit a
membership list.
Mark advised the he will have 2 fee waiver requests and 1 fee reduction request. He
asked the board what information they will like for him to have or request from the
applicants.
The board requested 501-3c. They also requested to have an explanation or reason for
what or who they are and what they are requesting.
7. Old Business
Mark advised that the Semi football Proteam will not be using the C.W. Thomas
football field.

8. Adiournment
Debra McElyea adjourned the meeting at 6:55 p.m.
Next meeting will be held at Frost Park on February 18,2014,P.I Meli @6 p.m.
