A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE PROPOSED "ALL ABOARD
FLORIDA" PROJECT, RELATING TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF A 235
MILE INTERCITY PASSENGER RAIL SERVICE BEING DEVELOPED BY
FLORIDA EAST COAST INDUSTRIES, LLC, THAT WILL ALLOW
PASSENGER TRAIN TRAVEL BETWEEN DOWNTOWN MIAMI AND THE
ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT; URGING THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND OTHER REGULATORY AND
FUNDING AGENCIES TO SUPPORT SUCH PROJECT; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,"All Aboard Florida", a rail transportation project(the"Project")developed
by Florida East Coast Industries, LLC (the "FEC") will be a privately owned, operated and
maintained passenger rail service operating between downtown Miami and Orlando; and
WHEREAS, the construction of a 235 mile passenger rail service will create 10,000
construction jobs per year during its construction, and 5,000 permanent jobs once the Project is
completed; and
WHEREAS, it is estimated that the Florida economy will grow by more than six billion
dollars over the next eight(8)years, as a result of the Project; and
WHEREAS, the proposed construction of the Project, that will connect Miami and
Orlando with travel completed in under three (3) hours will result in substantial economic
benefits to the state of Florida through increased business revenues, new construction jobs,
increased tourism and increased roadway safety; and
WHEREAS, downtown Miami is South Florida's largest, most utilized transit-oriented
area, featuring the State's largest employment center, a growing high-density residential
community, major cultural and entertainment destinations, and an existing premium transit
infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, the Central Florida region is the most visited region in the state of Florida
and the Orlando International Airport is one of the busiest in the United States;
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH,FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the foregoing "Whereas" clauses are true and correct and they are
made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference.
Section 2. That the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach supports the
proposed"All Aboard Florida"Project, which is a privately owned, operated and maintained 235
mile passenger rail service between downtown Miami and Orlando International Airport that is
being developed by Florida East Coast Industries, LLC, and urges the United States Department
of Transportation (the "USDOT"), Florida Department of Transportation, and other regulatory
and funding agencies to support the Project.
Section 3. That the City Clerk is authorized and directed to transmit a copy of this
Resolution to The Florida League of Cities, Inc., the Governor of the State of Florida Honorable
Rick Scott, and to the office of the Florida State Legislature.
Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 5. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
