A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO
ACCEPT TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($25,000.00) AS A
DONATION FROM THE SOUTH BROWARD HOSPITAL DISTRICT D/B/A
MEMORIAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM FOR THE SPECIFIC USE OF
PURCHASING EXERCISE EQUIPMENT FOR INSTALLATION AT THE S.E.
5ch AVENUE LINEAR PARK FROM GREENFIELDS OUTDOOR FITNESS,
INC., AND PURCHASING THE EQUIPMENT FROM THE COMPANY
WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT THE
ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIFTY
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000.00); PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the South Broward Hospital District d/b/a Memorial Healthcare System
("Memorial") has generously agreed to donate Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00)
toward the purchase of outdoor exercise equipment for installation at the Linear Park along S.E.
5ch Avenue in the City with the stipulation that the equipment be purchased from Greenfields
Outdoor Fitness, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the Dania Beach City Commission wishes to accept the generous gift and to
express its gratitude to Memorial; and
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Part III, Article 3, Section 4,
Subsection 0), authorizes the City Manager to purchase supplies, services, equipment and
materials for the City government in amounts in excess of the established monetary threshold
without competitive bidding and without advertisement for bids if he is authorized to do so in
advance by a resolution adopted by the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Dania Beach Code of Ordinances, Chapter 2, Article 1, Section 2-10,
"Monetary thresholds for certain purchases and payment disbursement authorizations",
Subsection(a), sets the monetary threshold or limitation at $25,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department Director has identified an area along
S.E. 5th Avenue Linear Park where the installation of outdoor exercise equipment would enhance
the Park; and
WHEREAS, due to the donation stipulation by Memorial, the City Commission waives
competitive bidding and the advertisement for bids and agrees to purchase the exercise
equipment (in a total amount not to exceed Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00)) from
Greenfields Outdoor Fitness, Inc.;
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the above "whereas" clauses are approved, made a part of and
incorporated into this Resolution by this reference.
Section 2. That the proper City officials are authorized to accept the Twenty-Five
Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) donation from South Broward Hospital District d/b/a Memorial
Healthcare System.
Section 3. That the City Commission authorizes the purchase of exercise equipment
from Greenfields Outdoor Fitness Inc., in a total amount not to exceed Fifty Thousand Dollars
($50,000.00) for the delivery, installation and warranty of the outdoor exercise equipment to be
placed at the S.E. 5th Avenue Linear Park in the City of Dania Beach, and the City Commission
further waives competitive bidding and the advertisement for bids.
Section 4. That the Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) funding appropriation for the
exercise equipment purchase shall be provided by recognition and appropriation of the Twenty-
Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) donation from South Broward Hospital District d/b/a
Memorial Healthcare System that will be coupled with an encumbrance and use of an additional
Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) from the General Fund, Recreation Department,
Administrative Division, Infrastructure Improvements Account, Account No. 001-7201-572-63-

Section 5. That the City Clerk is directed to furnish a copy of this Resolution to the
District Board of Directors, expressing the gratitude of the City Commission on behalf of its
citizens for the generous donation identified above.
Section 6. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
shall be repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 7. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
