Home My WebLink AboutR-2015-046 - Approved the Appropriation & Use of Federal Law Enforcement Trust Funds not to exceed $2,200.00 for attendance at the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) RESOLUTION NO. 2015-046 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE APPROPRIATION AND USE OF FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($2,200.00) FOR ATTENDANCE AT THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF BLACK LAW ENFORCEMENT EXECUTIVES("NOBLE")CONFERENCE;PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the recommendation from Broward Sheriff's Office Chief Kevin Granville,District I1,of the City of Dania Beach,to expend funds from the Federal Law Enforcement Trust Fund in an amount not to exceed Two Thousand Two Hundred Dollars($2,200.00),to cover costs associated with the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives("NOBLE") Conference, as outlined in the attached composite Exhibit "A", which is made a part of and is incorporated into this Resolution by this reference, is approved. Section 2. That these costs have not been planned or reflected in the current year approved budget; therefore, upon receipt of the appropriation described in Section I above, Chief Kevin Granville is authorized to expend such funds for the specific purposes set forth in Exhibit"A". Section 3. That funds for this expenditure shall be expended from available cash balances from the City's Federal Law Enforcement Trust Fund—Training and Per Diem Account, Account No. 109-21-01-521-40-10 in an amount not to exceed $2,200.00. Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 5. Granville Dania Beach/District Commander Subject: Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Federal 39t'Annual NOBLE National Conference This memorandum is being submitted to request LETF dollars to be appropriated for me to attend the Wh Annual NOBLE National Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. This year's theme is"NOBLE and INDY:At the forefront of Achieving Diversity in Law Enforcement". As the elected President for the South Florida Chapter of NOBLE, my attendance at this conference will benefit the city of Dania Beach and the 30,000 residents I serve on a daily basis. It will provide me valuable training and allow me the opportunity to network with other CEOs in Law Enforcement from around the country; thus exposing me to new and innovative techniques in our rapidly changing profession. At last years conference the South Florida Chapter was selected as"Chapter of the Year" (mid-size chapter). Some of the classes being offered this year range from School Based Mentoring, Diversity and Inclusion, Defining Moments from Ferguson, Critical Incident Management for Small Law Enforcement Agencies, and Building Trust and Repairing Harm with Communities of Color. This request is for the allocation of$2,200.00 dollars from the Federal LETF to cover all expenses pertaining to this trip to include(registration, transportation, and hotel accommodations). If approved,the total amount of this request would not exceed $2,200.00 dollars. I have attached our most recent LETF Fund Balance Sheet showing a balance of$108,094.43 in federal funds. The Broward Sheriffs Office Legal Division has reviewed this request and has indicated that it is an appropriate use of LETF funds.
