HomeMy WebLinkAbout1506270 - MINUTES - CRA MINUTES OF MEETING CITY OF DANIA BEACH COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY TUESDAY, MARCH 8, 2016 - 6:00 P.M. 1. Call to Order/Roll Call Chairman Salvino called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Present: Chairman: Marco A. Salvino, Sr. Vice-Chairman: Albert C. Jones Board Members: Chickie Brandi_marre Paul Fetscher Bobbie H. Grace Executive Director: Rachel Bach City Attorney: Thomas Ansbro CRA Secretary: Louise Stilson 2. Citizen Comments Steven Casper, 34 S. Federal Highway, presented a Sun Sentinel newspaper article to the Board, which is attached to these minutes. He suggested that the City consider doing something similar to improve the overall image of the City by bringing color to the City. Linda Wilson, Friends of the Library, thanked the CRA for including them in the Arts and Seafood Celebration. They will also have a craft booth for children working with recycled materials. 3. Administrative Reports 3.1 CRA Board Update January and February 2016 Rachel Bach, CRA Executive Director, reviewed the material that was included in the agenda packet. 4. Presentations 4.1 2016 Arts and Seafood Celebration Report Director Bach provided an update on matters concerning the upcoming Arts and Seafood Celebration on April 2-3, 2016. The presentation was included in the agenda packet. Board Member Grace questioned the outreach to volunteers, and expressed her concerns with parking and seating. Board Member Brandimarte expressed her concern with the truck delivering the sand on the ballfield. 4.2 Dania Beach PATCH Status Report Dion Taylor, ENO Consulting, Manager of the PATCH, reviewed the report that was included in the agenda packet. Board Member Grace questioned what is currently planted and our business partnerships. She would like us to work on the cookbook. Vice-Chairman Jones suggested that the surplus food also be donated to the Churches for distribution. 5. Consent A eg nda 5.1 Minutes: Approve Minute of January 6, 2016 CRA Board Meeting 5.2 Travel Requests: Approve travel request for Kathleen Weekes, CRA Coordinator, to attend the Florida Redevelopment Association Training in Orlando, Florida, on January 28-29, 2016 (estimated cost$1,095.24) Approve travel request for Kathleen Weekes, CRA Coordinator, to attend the Florida Redevelopment Association Training in Orlando, Florida, on February 25-26, 2016 (estimated cost$966.37) 5.3 Authorization to prepare the CRA Annual Report under RMA General Services for an estimated cost of$3,200.00 Board Member Grace motioned to approve the Consent Agenda; seconded by Vice- Chairman Jones. The motion carried unanimously. 6. Proposals and Bids There were no proposals on this agenda. Minutes of Regular Meeting 2 Dania Beach Community Redevelopment Agency Tuesday,March 8,2016—6:00 p.m. 7. Discussion and Possible Action There were no discussion items on this agenda. 8. Board Member Comments Board Member Grace questioned if we would be receiving t-shirts prior to the Arts & Seafood Celebration. Director Bach responded yes, and we will also be selling items on-line. Board Member Grace also requested better food this year for the VIP Tent, and Director Bach said that has been arranged. Board Member Brandimarte wants parcels of the PATCH to be offered to the residents of the City to grow their own herbs. Director Bach said this will be launched at the middle of this month. Vice-Chairman Jones asked about the job search for the CRA Director. Director Bach responded they did prepare a job description and salary range; however,the Board did not want to proceed. She can bring it back if it is the will of the Board. Vice- Chairman Jones wants to move forward now that we have a full Board. Board Member Grace said we have the best person to take the CRA into the future. Board Member Brandimarte thought the CRA was working fine with Director Bach. Vice-Chairman Jones wants this Board to move forward with the process, and place the matter on the next agenda. Chairman Salvino asked Director Bach to bring the costs and 3 options to the next meeting. 9.
