DANIA BEACH CITY COMMISSION
MONDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2016 - 7:00 P.M.
1. Call to Order/Roll Call
Mayor Salvino called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Present:
Mayor: Marco A. Salvino, Sr.
Vice-Mayor: Albert C. Jones

2. Moment of Silence and Pledge of Alle ig ance
Mayor Salvino called for a moment of silence followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the United
States Flag.
3. Presentations and Special Event Approvals
3.1 Special Event request from Commissioner Grace to have a 'Breast Cancer
Awareness" event on October 27, 2016. The requested event will be held in the
Dania Beach Atrium from 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The applicant is also requesting the
use of City chairs and tables to be setup according to the seating chart submitted.
Vice-Mayor Jones motioned to approve the Special Event request for Breast Cancer
Awareness; seconded by Commissioner Fetscher. The motion carried unanimously.
3.2 Special Event request from the Dolphins Cycling Challenge, Inc. to have a "Dolphins
Cycling Challenge" on February 11, 2017 from 9:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. This will be a
bike ride through the City to raise money for cancer research.
Vice-Mayor Jones motioned to approve the Special Event request for Dolphins Cycling
Challenge; seconded by Commissioner Grace. The motion carried unanimously.
4. Proclamations
4.1 Domestic Violence Awareness Month—Women in Distress
The City Commission presented the proclamation to Angel Broder, Women in Distress of
Broward County.
4.2 National Friends of Libraries Week— Linda Wilson, Paul DeMaio Library Friends of
the Library
The City Commission presented the proclamation to Linda Wilson and other members of the
Friends of the Paul DeMaio Library.
5. Citizen Comments
Charlotte Sloboda, 2905 Lakeshore Drive, spoke of the St. Maurice Country Fair and the Meet
the Candidates Night at the Estates of Ft. Lauderdale.
Betty Sokol, 609 NW loth Street, noted that due to last week's hurricane, the Seniors Meeting
has been rescheduled to Thursday, October 13, 2016.
6. Public Safety Reports
Captain Daniel Marks, BSO Chief of Police, reported on the Fishing Day that was held, and that
30 children participated. He noted there was not much crime to report; however, vehicle
burglaries are quite active.
Lieutenant Dan Suarez, BSO Fire Rescue, noted today was the first day for the new Fire
Marshall. He spoke of the recent fire prevention presentation at Collins and Dania Elementary
Schools, and expressed the importance of being prepared for a hurricane.

MANAGEMENT, INC. FOR MANAGEMENT OF THE DANIA BEACH MARINA; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS;FURTHER PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
City Attorney Ansbro read the title of Resolution#2016-135.
Vice-Mayor Jones motioned to adopt Resolution 92016-135; seconded by Commissioner
Grace. The motion carried unanimously.
8.2 RESOLUTION#2016-136
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AWARDING
A BID TO MIGUEL LOPEZ JR., INC. FOR THE SOUTHWEST 26TH TERRACE DRAINAGE PROJECT IN
CONNECTION WITH INVITATION TO BID (ITB)NO. 16-005, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED SEVEN
HUNDRED ELEVEN THOUSAND EIGHTY TWO DOLLARS AND TWENTY FOUR CENTS ($711,082.24)
AND AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE THE RELATED AGREEMENT;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;FURTHER,PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
City Attorney Ansbro read the title of Resolution#2016-136.
Commissioner Grace motioned to adopt Resolution #2016-136; seconded by Vice-Mayor
Jones. The motion carried unanimously.
9. Public Hearings and Site Plans
City Attorney Ansbro advised the remaining items, except for Item #9.2, were quasi-judicial
hearings and swore-in those who would speak. He asked the Commission to disclose any
communication they had on these matters.

BY CRAVEN THOMPSON AND ASSOCIATES, INC., ON BEHALF OF THE PROPERTY OWNER, CTKO
DANIA VENTURE, LLC, FOR PROPERTIES GENERALLY LOCATED AT 4 NORTH FEDERAL HIGHWAY
WITHIN THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR

City Attorney Ansbro read the title of Ordinance #2016-022 and Resolution #2016-137, as they
relate to the same property.
Vice-Mayor Jones noted he was contacted by the property owner.

Monday,October 10,2016—7:00 p.m.
Corinne Lajoie, Principal City Planner, described the vacation request, design variations, design
waivers and site plan for the former Pirates Inn property.
Attorney Robert Lochrie noted they have had meetings with the direct neighbors since the
previous Commission meeting.
Mayor Salvino opened the Public Hearings. Seeing as there was no one to speak in favor or
opposition, he closed the Public Hearings.
Vice-Mayor Jones motioned to adopt Ordinance #2016-022, on second reading; seconded
by Commissioner Brandimarte. The motion carried unanimously.
9.4 RESOLUTION#2016-137
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
THE SITE PLAN (SP-03-15) AND ASSOCIATED DESIGN VARIATIONS AND DESIGN WAIVERS (OT-83-
16/OT-84-16/OT-85-16/OT-86-16) SUBMITTED BY RAMESH ACQUISITIONS, LLC, FOR PROPERTY
LOCATED ON THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF FEDERAL HIGHWAY AND DANIA BEACH BOULEVARD
IN THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR CONDITIONS; PROVIDING FOR

Commissioner Fetscher motioned to adopt Resolution #2016-137; seconded by Vice-Mayor

City Attorney Ansbro read the title of Resolution #2016-109, and noted the applicant has
requested a continuance until the October 25, 2016 City Commission meeting.
Mayor Salvino opened the Public Hearing. Seeing as there was no one to speak in favor or
opposition, he closed the Public Hearing.
Commissioner Grace motioned to continue Resolution#2016-109 until the October 25,2016
City Commission meeting at 7:00 p.m.; seconded by Commissioner Fetscher. The motion
carried unanimously.

Commissioner Brandimarte spoke of events related to Hurricane Matthew, and noted we need to
increase the amount in our disaster fund.
11.2 Commissioner Fetscher
Commissioner Fetscher had no comments.
11.3 Commissioner Grace
Commissioner Grace thanked those who worked in preparation for Hurricane Matthew.
11.4 Vice-Mayor Jones
Vice-Mayor Jones wants us to start looking at our elderly population and recognize their needs
during catastrophic events. He thanked staff for the work performed during the early preparation
of the hurricane event.
11.5 Mayor Salvino
Mayor Salvino had no additional comments.
12. Appointments
There were no appointments at this meeting.
13. Administrative Reports
13.1 City Manager
City Manager Baldwin complimented staff and the Commission for the hurricane preparations.
City Manager Baldwin provided an update on meetings that were cancelled because of the storm.
13.2 City Attorney
City Attorney Ansbro had no comments.
