A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, RELATING TO A WORK ORDER IN AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED SEVENTY FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS ($74,000.00)
FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISION OF A DANIA
BEACH ENTRANCE SIGN; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER,
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Broward County and FDOT modified the City's entranceway sign and
landscaping at U.S. One and New Griffin Road (the "intersection"); and
WHEREAS, Broward County entered into an Interlocal Agreement with the City of
Dania Beach to provide funding for a new City entranceway sign and landscaping at the
intersection in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($250,000.00); and
WHEREAS, Broward County will provide the funds on a reimbursable basis; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission approved advanced funding of the project on April
14, 2015 via Resolution 2015-031 in anticipation of the project reimbursement; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dania Beach has contracted with Anthony Abbate, Architect,
PA to prepare a plan and conceptual design for a new entranceway sign at the intersection as well
as prototype designs and other entranceway signs; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission approved the plan and conceptual designs prepared by
Mr. Abbate at the April 14, 2015 meeting; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for design, permitting and ongoing construction services for
the project and to facilitate pay requests, conducting verification of work, and contract
administration; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to use the architect along with other professional service
providers who prepared the preliminary designs, for certain design construction services that are
qualified to meet project requirements; and
WHEREAS, the Community Development Director recommends the City approve a
work order to use the existing contract with Public Utility Management and Planning Services,
Inc. (PUMPS) and any subconsultants to provide design services, construction documents, bid
coordination, bid recommendation and construction supervision;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the above "WHEREAS" clauses are ratified and confirmed, and they
are made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by reference.
Section 2. That the City Commission authorizes and approves professional services
to be rendered by PUMPS in an amount not to exceed Seventy Four Thousand Dollars
($74,000.00) in a final scope and form approved by the City Attorney to cover the contract
services, and authorizes and directs the proper City officials to execute it.
Section 3. That funding for the services are planned and appropriated in the FY 2016-
2017 approved budget in the Capital Projects City Entrances Sign Project Account 4301-18-07-
519-63-10, which has a remaining balance of$235,000.00.
Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 5. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
