A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING IMPLEMENTATION OF MULTIMODAL
IMPROVEMENTS (BICYCLE LANES AND SIDEWALKS) ALONG THE
STATE ROAD AlA CORRIDOR (EAST DANIA BEACH BOULEVARD)
FROM GULFSTREAM ROAD TO NORTH OCEAN DRIVE; PROVIDING
FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; FURTHER
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Dania Beach, Florida wishes to balance
transportation needs for motor vehicles, bicyclists, pedestrians, mass transit users, and the
disabled, in its public rights-of-way; and
WHEREAS, in continuation of the City's vision to improve mobility and aesthetics
along the East Dania Beach Boulevard corridor from Gulfstream Road to North Ocean Drive,
the City of Dania Beach, in collaboration with the Florida Department of Transportation
(FDOT) and the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), have defined a project
along State Road AlA that fosters a walkable-bikable roadway with continuous bicycle lanes,
and sidewalks (the "Project"); and
WHEREAS, on December 8, 2015 and February 10, 2015, the City Commission of the
City of Dania Beach adopted Resolution Numbers 2015-153 and 2015-012 that included
support of the City of Dania Beach's application to the FDOT for the "Project"; and
WHEREAS, the Broward MPO has programmed the Project in its Transportation
Improvement Program (TIP); and
WHEREAS,the City of Dania Beach conducted public meetings on March 16, 2015 and
April 19, 2016 and submitted the required information to the applicable agencies for the study
and plan of the Project; and
WHEREAS, FDOT will coordinate with the City to design and construct the following
elements as needed within the Project:
• Designated bike lanes and new or reconstructed sidewalks
• Milling and resurfacing of the roadway
• New pavement markings and signage
• Modifications to affected drainage
• Relocation/replacement of existing street lighting where affected
• Sharrows (shared lane pavement markings) over the Intracoastal Waterway
Bridge to North Ocean Drive, and
• Utility coordination/relocation where affected; and
WHEREAS, as part of the Project, the City of Dania Beach has and will continue to
conduct public outreach and disperse information for this Project; and
WHEREAS, if approved, the design work and construction for the Project will proceed
in accordance with the MPO and FDOT's approved plans and budgets;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the above "Whereas" clauses are approved, made a part of and
incorporated into this Resolution by this reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City if Dania beach, Florida, supports the
Proj ect.
Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall become effective upon its passage and adoption.
