HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2017-071 Supports the Construction of Sidewalks & Bike Lanes on SW 40th Ave. between Griffin Road & Stirling Road, Known as the SW 40th Avenue Mobility Project RESOLUTION NO. 2017-071 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF SIDEWALKS AND BIKE LANES ON SOUTHWEST 40TH AVENUE BETWEEN GRIFFIN ROAD AND STIRLING ROAD, KNOWN AS THE SW 40TH AVENUE MOBILITY PROJECT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization ("MPO") and the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") have funded a project known as the SW 401h Avenue Mobility Project; and WHEREAS, the FDOT will be the agency responsible for funding, design and construction activities for the Project; and WHEREAS, the FDOT requires a resolution supporting its role as the Project's designer and construction administrator; and WHEREAS, the City supports the Project and desires to pursue the Project in partnership with the Broward MPO and the FDOT; and WHEREAS, the City, as part owner of SW 40th Avenue right-of-way, is committed to this development effort; and WHEREAS, this Project will further the goal of the City to support development, design and construct sustainable, multi-modal transportation facilities throughout the City, to meet the demands of residents,travelers, businesses, and the community at large; NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH,FLORIDA: Section 1. That the above "WHEREAS" clauses are ratified and confirmed, and they are made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference. Section 2. That the City Commission supports the FDOT's SW 40th Avenue Mobility Project, to improve conditions for road users, bicyclists and pedestrians. Section 3. That the City supports the FDOT as the Project designer and construction administrator. Section 4. That funding for this Project was planned for and appropriated by FDOT without local match. Section 5. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 6. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED on July 25, 2017.
