A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO
PURCHASE SERVICES FOR THE DEMOLITION AND REMODELING OF
THE CITY COMMISSION OFFICE SPACE AT CITY HALL WITHOUT
COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS,
WHICH PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO EXCEED THE ANNUAL VENDOR
THRESHOLD OF TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($25,000.00) FOR
A SINGLE VENDOR IN A FISCAL YEAR; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Part III, Article 3, Section 4,
Subsection 0), authorizes the City Manager to purchase supplies, services, equipment and
materials for the City government in amounts in excess of the established monetary threshold
without competitive bidding and without advertisement for bids if he is authorized to do so in
advance by a resolution adopted by the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Dania Beach Code of Ordinances, Chapter 2, Article 1, Section 2-10,
"Monetary thresholds for certain purchases and payment disbursement authorizations",
subsection (a), sets the monetary threshold at Twenty Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) for a
vendor for each fiscal year; and
WHEREAS,the City Manager's Office is in the process of obtaining three written quotes
to determine the cost associated with the demolition and remodeling of the City Commission
office space located at City Hall; and
WHEREAS, initial estimates from two vendors indicate the project will be estimated to
cost approximately Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000.00); and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is seeking permission to proceed with the lowest
responsible quote upon receipt of the third written quote; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is seeking additional contingency funds of Ten Thousand
Dollars ($10,000.00) above the estimated contractor cost for permits, furnishings and any
unforeseen costs which should arise during the project bringing the total not to exceed amount
for the project to Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00);
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH,FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the above "WHEREAS" clauses are ratified and confirmed, and they
are made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference.
Section 2. That the City Commission authorizes the City Manager to purchase
services for the above described project from the provider of the lowest responsible and
responsive written quote, without competitive bidding or advertisement for bid.
Section 3. That funding for these services shall be appropriated from the Commission
Contingency Account No. 001-18-00-519-99-10 which has a current available balance of
$138,995.00 to the Capital Projects Commission Office Remodel Construction Account No. 301-
18-09-519-62-10 in an amount not to exceed Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00), leaving a
remaining balance of$98,995.00 in the Commission Contingency account.
Section 4. That the City Manager and City Attorney are authorized to make minor
revisions to the project Agreement as are deemed necessary and proper and in the best interest of
the City.
Section 5. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 6. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
