HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2017-111 Authorizes An Appropriation from the City of Dania Beach Hurricane Reserves to Pay for Expenses Related to Hurricane Irma in an Amount Not to Exceed Four Million Dollars RESOLUTION NO. 2017-111 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AN APPROPRIATION FROM THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH HURRICANE RESERVES TO PAY FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO HURRICANE IRMA IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FOUR MILLION DOLLARS; PROVIDING FOR FUNDING; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That on September 5, 2017 the City of Dania Beach was placed under a state of emergency FEMA-3385-EM due to the potential landfall of Hurricane Irma in the Atlantic Basin. Section 2. That on or about September 9, 2017, the City of Dania Beach sustained damage related to Hurricane Irma including but not limited to debris clean-up, facility damage and additional staff hours which are not funded in the annual budget. Section 3. That the City Administration will be filing for both insurance proceeds and FEMA Assistance to defray these expenses which will be paid to various vendors for services provided. Section 4. That the City Commission authorizes use and appropriation of hurricane reserves from account 001-271-08-00 in an initial amount of Four Million Dollars ($4,000,000.00) to the General Fund Administration Hurricane Expenses Account #001-18-00- 519-52-90 necessary to pay all related expenses while seeking reimbursement. Section 5. That any unused funds as of September 30, 2017 will automatically be re- appropriated for the same purpose on October 1, 2017 in the fiscal year 2017-2018 budget. Section 6. Than any unused funds will automatically be returned to the hurricane reserves. Section 7. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 8. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED on September 19, 2017.
