HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2019-056 City Authorizing an Appropriation From the City Hurricane Reserves to pay for Expenses Related to Hurricane Season Preparation & Related Matters & Supplies not to exceed ($100,000.00) RESOLUTION NO. 2019-056 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AN APPROPRIATION FROM THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH HURRICANE RESERVES TO PAY FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO HURRICANE SEASON PREPARATION AND RELATED MATTERS AND SUPPLIES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($100,000.00); PROVIDING FOR FUNDING; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the Atlantic hurricane season occurs each year, from June 1st to November 30th. Section 2. That in preparation for hurricane season, the City of Dania Beach for the safety and protection of both its residents and emergency response teams, finds it is necessary to purchase certain services, supplies and materials in advance to ensure the ability to respond quickly, swiftly, and safely during times of emergency, including but not limited to satellite phones, chainsaws, safety equipment and uniforms, and sand which are not funded in the annual budget. Section 3. That the City Administration will be filing for any insurance proceeds or FEMA Assistance as applicable to defray these expenses which will be paid to various vendors for services provided. Section 4. That the City Commission authorizes use and appropriation of hurricane reserves from account 001-271-08-00 in an initial amount of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) to the General Fund Administration Hurricane Expenses Account #001-18-00- 519-52-90 necessary to pay all related expenses with regard to hurricane preparations. Section 5. That any unused funds as of September 30, 2019 will automatically be re- appropriated for the same purpose on October 1, 2019 for the fiscal year 2019-2020 budget. Section 6. Than any unused funds will automatically be returned to the hurricane reserves. Section 7. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 8. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED on June 11, 2019.
