Home My WebLink AboutR-2019-075 City Approving the Appropriation and Use of Law Enforcement Trust Funds in an Amount not to Exceed One Hundred Forty Two Thousand Fifty Dollars ($142,050.00) for Public Safety Equipment RESOLUTION NO. 2019-075 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH,FLORIDA,APPROVING THE APPROPRIATION AND USE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED FORTY TWO THOUSAND FIFTY DOLLARS ($142,050.00) FOR PUBLIC SAFETY EQUIPMENT;PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;PROVIDING FOR FUNDING,FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH,FLORIDA: Section 1. That the recommendation from Broward Sheriff's Office Captain Daniel J. Marks, of the City of Dania Beach, to expend funds from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Forty Two Thousand Fifty Dollars($142,050.00),as outlined in the attached composite Exhibit"A",which is made a part of and is incorporated into this Resolution by this reference, is approved. , Section 2. That these costs have not been planned or reflected in the current year approved budget;therefore,upon receipt of the appropriation described in Section 1 above,Captain Daniel Marks is authorized to expend such funds for the specific purposes set forth in Exhibit"A" and such funds will be made payable to the Broward Sheriff's Office for the specific purpose as described. Section 3. That funds for this expenditure shall be appropriated from the City's Law Enforcement Trust Fund current revenues and reserve balances to the City's Law Enforcement Trust Fund—Professional Services, Account No. 104-21-01-521-31-10 in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Forty Two Thousand Fifty Dollars ($142,050.00). Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 5. Mar Date: June 26, 2019 Subject: LETF Purchase ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This memorandum is in reference to a request to purchase a surveillance trailer and two License Plate Reader (LPR)trailers. The purchase will be done using Law Enforcement Trust Fund (LETF) money. This equipment is state of the art and will be utilized in high crime, high traffic areas. The surveillance trailer is self-contained with a three camera telescoping tower. Video can be viewed remotely and also be fed to the real time crime center where it may be monitored. This trailer can and will be deployed in neighborhoods, shopping centers and at special events. The cost of this equipment is$67,250.00. The two LPR trailers are equipped with two cameras and all hardware and software required to operate. The trailers are also equipped with a programmable LED speed sign. As vehicles travel past the trailer, the tags are captured and run through databases. The speed of the vehicle is also posted on the LED speed sign. The total cost per LPR trailer is $36,000.00.
