HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2019-134 City, relating to the Memorandum of Understanding regarding a collaborative study and subsequent development of an integrated solid waste & recycling system; Appointing Representatives RESOLUTION NO. 2019-134 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, RELATING TO THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING REGARDING A COLLABORATIVE STUDY AND SUBSEQUENT DEVELOPMENT OF AN INTEGRATED SOLID WASTE AND RECYCLING SYSTEM; APPOINTING REPRESENTATIVES TO REPRESENT THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH IN MATTERS RELATING TO THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING; PROVIDING DIRECTION ON REPRESENTATION ON THE TECHNICAL GROUP OF THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City entered into a Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Collaborative Study and Subsequent Development of an Integrated Solid Waste Recycling System ("MOU")with Broward County and a number of cities located within the County; and WHEREAS, the MOU provides for the establishment of a Working Group comprised of elected officials from Broward County, and the municipal signatories of the MOU must decide the number of municipal members of the Working Group, how to select them, and who they will be, as well as make other collective decisions on behalf of municipalities as the issues under the MOU are reviewed; and WHEREAS, the MOU also provides for a Technical Group, comprised of staff-level persons to review issues and make recommendations to the Working Group, and any municipality that elects to do so may have a representative on the Working Group; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the above "WHEREAS" clauses are approved, and are made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference. Section 2: That the City of Dania Beach appoints Commissioner Bill Harris as the City's representative and Mayor Lori Lewellen as the City's alternate representative, to vote on behalf of the City on matters relating to the MOU, including decisions regarding the Working Group. The alternate representative will participate and vote only in the absence or unavailability of the representative. Section 3: That the City appoints Corry Taylor, Manager of Streets and Solid Waste, Public Services Department, as a member to the Technical Group of the MOU. Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 5. That this Resolution shall become effective upon its passage and adoption. PASSED and ADOPTED on October 28, 2019.
