A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO
EXECUTE AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT ("ILA") WITH BROWARD
COUNTY RELATING TO THE CORONAVIRUS AID, RELIEF, AND
ECONOMIC SECURITY ("CARES") ACT, WITH DISTRIBUTION OF
FUNDING BY BROWARD COUNTY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Broward County and the City of Dania Beach desire to enter into an
Interlocal Agreement ("ILA") pursuant to Section 163.01, Florida Statutes, also known as the
"Florida Interlocal Cooperation Act of 1969," in order to coordinate the distribution of federal
funding under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security ("CARES")Act; and
WHEREAS, On March 27, 2020, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security
("CARES") Act was signed into law, providing over $2 trillion in economic relief to assist with
the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, $8.3 billion of which was allocated to the State of
Florida; and
WHEREAS, based on its population, Broward County qualified for a direct payment
allocation and received Three Hundred Forty Million Seven Hundred Forty Four Thousand
Seven Hundred Two Dollars ($340,744,702.00) in funding under the CARES Act; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to allocate a portion of the funds it received from the
CARES Act to the City as will be provided in an Agreement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH,FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the above "Whereas" clauses are ratified and confirmed, and they are
made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference.
Section 2. That the proper City officials are authorized to execute an Interlocal
Agreement (ILA) with Broward County related to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic
Security ("CARES") Act funding, subject to final review and approval of the ILA by the City
Attorney.
Section 3. That the City Manager and City Attorney are authorized to make revisions
to the ILA as are deemed necessary and proper for the best interests of the City.
Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 5. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
