HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2020-108 City Requesting Advance Approval from the City Commission to Process with the Bid Advertisement for the Citywide Speed Hump Improvements Project; Providing for Conflicts RESOLUTION NO. 2020-108 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING ADVANCE APPROVAL FROM THE CITY COMMISSION TO PROCEED WITH THE BID ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE CITYWIDE SPEED HUMP IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City has approximately eighty (80) speed humps installed throughout various neighborhoods; and WHEREAS, the City requested a consultant that is familiar with the previous speed humps' installations, Public Utility Management and Planning Services, Inc. ("PUMPS"), to review and assess all speed humps and provide design and bidding documents to correct safety and compliance issues; and WHEREAS, the assessment found that a high percentage of these speed humps were found to not be compliant with Broward County standards and also identified some speed humps that need to be removed; and WHEREAS, the design and bid documents have been developed by PUMPS to address all speed hump deficiencies with the end result being that all required speed humps in City roadways are to be compliant with County standards; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH,FLORIDA: Section 1. That the above "Whereas" clauses are ratified and confirmed, and they are made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference. Section 2. That the City Commission authorizes staff to proceed with competitive bidding for construction services to improve the speed humps throughout the City with funds in the amount of Two Hundred Forty Thousand Dollars ($240,000.00) that have been requested and are included in the proposed Fiscal Year 2020-21 City budget. Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4. That this Resolution shall become effective upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED on September 24, 2020.
