HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2022-007 Southwest 43rd Terrace Drainage Improvement Project Authorization to BidRESOLUTION NO.2022-007 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING ADVANCE APPROVAL FROM THE CITY COMMISSION TO PROCEED WITH THE BID ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE SOUTHWEST 43an TERRACE DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, in 2018, the Public Services Department ("PSD") contracted with Chen Moore and Associates ("CMA") to study drainage solutions in a limited area covering east of Southwest 40d' Avenue and south of Griffin Road; and WHEREAS, CMA completed the "Southwest Area Stormwater Study Final Report" that same year, and identified improvements along Southwest 43rd Terrace that would have the most impact on flooding in the southwest area neighborhood; and WHEREAS, the PSD contracted with CMA to design and permit drainage improvements along Southwest 43rd Terrace, and WHEREAS, the Southwest 43rd Terrace Drainage Improvement Project was one of the projects included in the City's voter -approved Transportation Surtax Capital Projects list; and WHEREAS, in July 2020, the Broward County Commission approved grant funding in the amount of $2.1 million for this Project as part of the first year of the transportation surtax; and WHEREAS, CMA has completed the design engineering and required documents for bidding out the construction work for the drainage project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the above "Whereas" clauses are ratified and confirmed, and they are made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference. Section 2. That the City Commission authorizes staff to proceed with the SW 43rd Terrace Drainage Improvement Project construction with transportation surtax funds of approximately Two Million One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($2,100,000) to be made available through an Interlocal Agreement with Broward County. Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4. That this Resolution shall become effective upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED on January 25, 2022.
