HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2022-101 Sidewalk Replacement Project Authorization to Bid RESOLUTION NO. 2022-101 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING APPROVAL FROM THE CITY COMMISSION TO PROCEED WITH THE BID ADVERTISEMENT FOR A SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT PROJECT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS,there are more than 107 linear miles of sidewalks throughout the City; and WHEREAS, maintenance of the sidewalks by the property owners has historically been inconsistent, which has led to degraded sidewalk conditions, including uneven surfaces; and WHEREAS, in 2021, the City identified the need for a citywide sidewalk master plan to locate, classify and prioritize damaged or missing sidewalks; and WHEREAS, the Public Services Department contracted with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc ("KHA")to assess the condition of the sidewalks throughout the City; and WHEREAS, KHA submitted an assessment of the City's sidewalks in April 2022 that categorized the sidewalks into Tier 1 and Tier 2, with Tier 1 encompassing the higher priority, more hazardous sidewalks that could create tripping hazards; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH,FLORIDA: Section 1. That the above "Whereas" clauses are ratified and confirmed, and they are made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference. Section 2. That the City Commission authorizes the Public Services Department to proceed with the competitive bidding of the construction of Tier 1 of the Citywide Sidewalk Replacement Project with funding made available through the re-appropriation of the Traffic Calming — Roundabout Project funds in the amount of$400,000.00 in the Fiscal Year 2021-22 budget and appropriation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds in the amount of $400,000. Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4.
