HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2022-128 Dania Cove Neighborhood Sign (Griffin Road and Southwest 24th Avenue) RESOLUTION NO. 2022-128 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING A NEW NEIGHBORHOOD SIGN FOR THE CORNER OF GRIFFIN ROAD AND SOUTHWEST 24TH AVENUE, CONFORMING TO THE CITY'S ADOPTED DESIGN REQUIREMENTS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, in 2018,the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2018-031, approving a new logo, seal, tagline, brand statement, brand standards and rebranding plan, and Resolution No. 2018-043 authorizing funding to implement the rebranding initiative; and WHEREAS, the Rebranding Signage Production and Replacement Project was one element of the initiative established to replace over 58 signs for neighborhoods, parks, buildings, etc.,throughout the City; and WHEREAS, all signs have been installed except for the location at Griffin Road and Southwest 24th Avenue, where there are two unauthorized signs not fitting the City's adopted design standards, and naming the neighborhood Broward Heights, one of the local plat names.; and WHEREAS, a survey of neighborhood residents was conducted by the Community Development Department and consultant Integrated Perspectives, using mail, internet and an in- person community meeting; and WHEREAS, citizens of the neighborhood overwhelmingly expressed support for the new City neighborhood signs to contain a new name,Dania Cove,reflecting the Dania Cove Park lying at the north of the subject neighborhood, which is a point of pride among nearby residents; NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH,FLORIDA: Section 1. That the above "Whereas" clauses are ratified and confirmed, and they are made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference. Section 2. That the City Commission authorizes a new neighborhood sign for the corner of Griffin Road and Southwest 24th Avenue,conforming to the City's adopted design requirements, and naming the area Dania Cove. Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED on August 23, 2022.
