A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE AWARD OF INVITATION TO BID
("ITB") NO. 22-030, ENTITLED "DIRECTIONAL BORING AND
ELECTRICAL UTILITY INSTALLATION" AND FOR THE PROPER CITY
OFFICIALS TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH CANSECO
ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS, INC. IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
ONE HUNDRED NINETY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($195,000.00); AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO EXCEED THE ANNUAL VENDOR
THRESHOLD TOTAL AMOUNT OF FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS
($50,000.00); PROVIDING; FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
• WHEREAS, on June 22, 2021, via Resolution No. 2021-083, the City Commission
authorized the permitting, engineering design, construction, and funding necessary to provide
electricity to roadway medians to enable the lighting of holiday decorations; and
WHEREAS, the Public Services Department ("PSD") engaged Calvin Giordano and
Associates to design, prepare construction documents, obtain permits, and provide post-design
services for this project; and
WHEREAS, on August 30, 2022, the City issued an Invitation to Bid ("ITB") No. 22-
030 for the"Directional Boring and Electrical Utility Installation Project"; and
WHEREAS, on September 26, 2022, the City received two responses to ITB No. 2022-
030, shown below:
1. Canseco Electrical Contractors, Inc. $195,000.00
2. Unitec $281,107.19; and
WHEREAS, the Bid Committee's assessment of the bid packages provided by the
respondents, reviewed by the consultant project engineer, resulted in the selection of Canseco
Electrical Contractors, Inc as the lowest and most qualified; and
WHEREAS, the total amount for this project will exceed the annual Fifty Thousand
Dollars ($50,000.00) City purchase threshold for a single vendor and, therefore, requires City
Commission approval;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the above "Whereas" clauses are ratified and confirmed, and they are
made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference.
Section 2. That the City Commission authorizes the proper City officials to execute
an agreement with Canseco Electrical Contractors, Inc for the Directional Boring and Electrical
Utility Installation Project in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Ninety-Five Thousand
Dollars ($195,000.00).
Section 3. That funding in the amount of $250,000.00 was approved in the Fiscal
Year 2022 budget for Median Electrification Improvements in General Funds Street
Maintenance Account No. 001-39-06-541-63-10 and that upon approval of this Resolution,
funding will be transferred to Capital Projects Fund Roadway Median and Electrical Account
No. 301-39-60-541-63-10 as of September 30, 2022, and the remaining funds will be utilized
for future median electrification expenditures.
Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 5. That this Resolution shall become effective upon its passage and adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on October 11, 2022.
