HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2022-172 FDEM Watershed Master Plan Grant Agreement RESOLUTION NO. 2022-172 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH AND THE FLORIDA DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT FOR GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF SEVENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($75,000.00) FOR THE CREATION OF A WATERSHED MASTER PLAN; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on June 3, 2022, City staff applied for the Watershed Planning Grant from the Florida Division of Emergency Management; and WHEREAS, the Florida Division of Emergency Management's Bureau of Mitigation prioritizes flood risk management as an integral part of its mission; and WHEREAS, the goals of the Watershed Master Planning Initiative are to assist local communities in developing a Watershed Master Plan for purposes of moving the City's rating up in the Community Rating Systems (CRS) of the National Flood Insurance Program(NFIP) and to increase resiliency in Florida communities; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends that the City Commission authorize staff to enter into the Phase 2 Florida Department of Emergency Management Watershed Planning grant for$75,000.00 with the City contributing $25,000.00, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are ratified and confirmed as being true and correct, and they are made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference. Section 2. That the proper City officials are authorized to accept and execute a Watershed Planning Grant Agreement on behalf of the City of Dania Beach, Florida with the Florida Division of Emergency Management, Bureau of Mitigation in the amount of$75,000.00 to provide funding for the creation of a Watershed Master Plan. Section 3. That the City Manager and City Attorney are authorized to make minor revisions to the Agreement which are deemed necessary and proper and in the best interest of the City. Section 4. That funding will be appropriated within the Grant Fund. Section 5. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
