HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2023-148 Authorizing Expenditure of Public Art Funds to 2024 Ignite Broward Public Art EventRESOLUTION NO. 2023- f AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF PUBLIC ART FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($10,000.00) FOR SPONSORSHIP OF THE 2024 IGNITE BROWARD PUBLIC ART EVENT; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Broward County Cultural Division, in partnership with Mad Arts, is hosting its third annual IGNITE Broward public art festival, featuring immersive large-scale projection mapping and interactive light -based art and sound installations by top national and international artists; and WHEREAS, part of the IGNITE Broward event is been located at the MAD Art Gallery located in Dania Beach; and WHEREAS, IGNITE Broward public art event,has been held annually since 2022, and WHEREAS, the Public Art Advisory Board (PAAB), at their October 16, 2023 meeting, recommended the City sponsor the IGNITE Broward annual public art event with a Twenty -Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) sponsorship which includes Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) monetary donation plus Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00) of in -kind services including use of the City owned parking garage, (3) shuttle busses, and any required police and fire detail for the event. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the above "WHEREAS" clauses are ratified and confirmed as being true and correct, and they are made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference. Section 2. That the proper City officials are authorized to expend Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) plus Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00) of in -kind services. Section 3. That Fiscal Year 2023-24 funding for this sponsorship, in the amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) is currently available in the City's Public Art Fund, account number 115-15-01-515-31-10. Section 4. That if any section, clause, sentence, or phrase of this Resolution is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Resolution. Section 5. That all Resolution or parts of this Resolution in conflict with the provisions of this Resolution are repealed. Section 6.
