Home My WebLink AboutO-2003-003 Health insurance plan-Compensation option ORDINANCE NO. 2003-003 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION 18-2 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, TO CLARIFY THE COMPENSATION OPTION AFFORDED MEMBERS OF THE CITY COMMISSION WITH RESPECT TO PARTICIPATION IN THE CITY HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That Section 18-2 of the City Code of Ordinances is amended to read as follows: Sec. 18.2. Same--City commission members; option to receive benefit compensation. Each member of the city commission of the City of Dania Beach is hereby granted the option to participate in the city's health insurance program or in lieu thereof to receive benefit compensation in an amount equal l to the prevailing GeSt of the iT suranno Goyerage pFeyided from tirne t„ time with said benefit compensation to be added to and paid to such commissioner as a part of his or her monthly compensation. If such member is single, such member may elect to receive the dollar amount equal to the premium paid by the City for single employee coverage; if such member is married, such member may elect to receive the dollar amount equal to the premium paid by the City for employee family coverage; provided however that the payment to a member who is single shall not exceed $444.00 per month and the payment to a married member shall not exceed $1,037.52 per month (which are the amounts of the premiums paid on behalf of single and married employees of the City, respectively, as of January, 2003). Section 2. If any section, clause, sentence or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance. 1 ORDINANCE NO.: 2003-003 Section 3.
