RE: Proposed Amendment to Section 22-1 to Require Building Numbers to be Posted
and Visible From Alleyways
The Mayor has proposed an ordinance which would amend the existing City ordinance
pertaining to the display of street address numbers. From a public safety standpoint (police,
fire, medical rescue response), as well as for the benefit of utility work and trash removal, the
display of street address numbers, so that they are visible for persons operating vehicles in
alleyways, will assist responders and service workers in the prompt identification of a property
when access to a property via an alleyway is necessary or desirable.
A copy of the proposed ordinance is attached and is ready for Commission
consideration and adoption.
