HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2024-068 Increase Contingency Funds for Saltz Michelson Architects for EOC DesignRESOLUTION NO. 2024-Ci& A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO AMEND AN AGREEMENT WITH SALTZ MICHELSON ARCHITECTS FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION OF THE FIRE ADMINISTRATION EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER AND TRAINING FACILITY (FAEOC), AND TO PROVIDE AN INCREASE TO THE PROJECT CONTINGENCY IN THE AMOUNT OF FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000.00); PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Saltz Michelson Architects ("SMA") was selected as one of fifteen firms for continuing design/engineering contract services under RFQ No. 20-005, per the Consultants Competitive Negotiation Act ("CCNA"), awarded under Resolution No. 2021-007, and the City Administration recommended engaging SMA to conduct the design, planning and construction management services for the Project under the CCNA continuing contract; and WHEREAS, on September 26, 2024, the Dania Beach City Commission approved Resolution No. 2023-120 authorizing an Agreement with SMA in the amount of $404,449.00 for architectural services, including construction administration for the new FAEOC; and WHEREAS, the Agreement excludes the testing and analysis of soil conditions and the Agreement's current Contingency will be depleted by this additional required work; and WHEREAS, SMA has indicated that the level of complexity of this project indicates a high probability that there will be modifications to the scope of services through future amendments to the Agreement which will require additional Contingency funding in the amount of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00); and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends that the City Commission approve the additional Contingency funding to meet the unforeseen expenses so the Public Services Department can effectively manage and ensure the successful completion of the project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the above "Whereas" clauses are ratified and confirmed, and they are made a part of and incorporated into this Resolution by this reference. Section 2. That the appropriate City officials are authorized to amend the Agreement with SMA to include the additional contingency funds. Section 3. That future changes to the scope of the agreement may be approved and executed by the City Manager so long as funding for the Project is available and appropriated. Section 4. That funding for additional Project Contingency in the amount of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,00.00) will be appropriated within the Fire Rescue Capital Design/Professional Services Expenditure Fund Account No. 301-22-04-522-31-10. Section 5. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 6.
