Mayor Ryan opened the floor to public comments" there being none, public hearing u'as closed. Commissioner James made a motion to approve the ordinance on second reading. The motion was seconded by Vice Mayor Lewellen which carried unanimously on voice vote. 13. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION 14. APPOINTMENTS 14.1 Education Advisory Board - 1 vacancy - Vice Mayor Lew-ellen Vice Ma,vor Lewellen appointed Lomaine Reed on the recommendation of Commissioner James. Commissioner James made a motion to approve the appointment of Lorraine Reed to the Education Advisory Board. The motion was seconded by Vice Mayor Lewellen which carried unanimously on voice vote. COMMISSION COMMENTS Commissioner Davis thanked cit) staff and administration fbr the r.r ork that is put into Dania Alter Dark. She spoke about attending both the 5k Fun Run and Dania After Dark and commented that it rained at both events. but people still came out and had a great time. She thanked stall for the hurricane preparation and sandbag distribution, spoke about the 3 Breast Cancer events she attended this month and thanked Captain Tarala and City Manager Garcia for getting the traffic under control and adding an additional deputy. 15.2 CommissionerJames ( onrmissioner James had no comments 15.3 CommissionerSalvino Commissioner Salvino spoke about the events he attended to include Dania After Dark Oktoberf'est. American Legion Post 304's 75s Birthday, the Prestige Club Gata and the Chamber of Commerce Breast Cancer event. He commended Mayor Ryan on the State of the City address and encouraged his colleagues to attend a future Prestige Club Gala. He spoke about the Southeast Drainage project and compliments he has received from residents regarding the project and construction clean-up. 15.4 Vice-MayorLewellen Vice Ma1'or Lewellen spoke about the CORE series and hopes that it rvill continue as it was a positive r.l.ay to comrnunicate with residents. She commented that she too has heard good things about the Southeast Drainage Project and noted that she hears more positive comments than negative about what the city is doing. She thanked the mayor and her colleagues for norking together and finding middle ground. She commended the city team and said it is the best in F'lorida. 15.5 Mayor Ryan Mayor Ryan spoke about the many events that have happened since the last meeting to include. the bond signing. the Southeast Drainage project. hurricane preparedness. CORE meetings. breast cancer events. Oktobertest and the State of the Cit_v. He commented that the CiO'of Dania Beach desen'es to be respected in this region as the city leads by example as an elected group and with the cilv staff. I6.
