HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2025-001 Amending Advisory Board Residency RequirementRESOLUTION NO. 2025-001 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, UPDATING THE ADVISORY BOARD RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FROM SIX (6) MONTHS TO TWELVE (12) MONTHS PER THE APPROVED CHARTER AMENDMENT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, During the November 5, 2024 General Election, charter amendment questions were placed on the ballot; and WHEREAS, a ballot question was proposed to the residents to increase the advisory board residency requirement from six (6) months to twelve (12) months per the request of the Charter Review Board and at the conclusion of the election, the charter amendment passed; and WHEREAS, all advisory board members for any applicable advisory boards are required to be residents of the City of Dania Beach for a minimum of twelve (12) months. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the foregoing “Whereas” clauses are ratified and confirmed as being true and they are made a part of and are incorporated into this Resolution by this reference. Section 2. That the residency requirement will be amended in the City Charter from six (6) months to twelve (12) months. Section 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4. That this Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED on January 14, 2025. Motion by _Vice Mayor Salvino_____, second by Commissioner Rimoli_____.
