SUBJECT: Approval to pay Invoice 00042739SE to All American Barricades in the amount of Six
Thousand One Hundred and Four Dollars ($6,104.00) for the road closure for the MLK
Parade Route on January 15, 2024.
REQUEST
The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting approval to pay Invoice 00042739SE to All American
Barricades in the amount of Six Thousand One Hundred and Four Dollars ($6,104.00) for the road closure
for the MLK Parade Route on January 15, 2024.
BACKGROUND
The Department of Parks and Recreation sponsors and assists the MLK Renaissance Committee with the
annual MLK event every year. Each year, the event weekend entails a parade the morning of Martin Luther
King Day. As part of the parade, MOT drawings are necessary for the FDOT permit as well as a barricade
company to handle the route road closures on the day of the parade.
All American Barricades provided these services last year under the $5,000 PO threshold. As such, All
American Barricades was selected to provide these services once again this year. Shortly before the event,
the MLK Renaissance Committee elected to change the parade route, lengthening the route. This change
in the route resulted in additional MOT drawings as well as additional equipment, bringing the invoice for
this year’s event to Six Thousand One Hundred and Four Dollars ($6,104.00), exceeding the $5,000.00 PO
threshold.
As the services have already been rendered, the Department has requested approval from Finance to pay
this invoice without a PO.
BUDGETARY IMPACT
Funding is budgeted in the Special Events Fund, Promotional Activities, Account No. 001-72-09-574-48-
10.
